One of the coolest lectures each year. A real photographer shares a real estimate with students, teaching them how to survive in this cut throat business.

Jason Miczek, Justin Cook and Lexey Swall, left to right, center piece a round table discussion on going from staff photographers to successful freelance careers. It was a whole business class in an hour.

Had a great run today: 5.15 miles in 11 minutes and a 2:15 pace. I mean this is from an iPhone app so it must be correct. (Hint I can not even bike that fast on this route)

I got to test the Canon 17mm Tilt Shift a little more... Pisgah Covered Bridge.

Sam has a friend spend the night.

Top step today!

I was reading in Velonews an interview with American cyclist Andrew Talansky
(Garmin Sharp) and he was asked if it's fun racing in the TdF. He said racing is NEVER fun but rewarding.... that was how I felt today... it sucked, I was hurting, grasping for air, had second place (I didn't know who he was) on my tail for 7 laps, and I was ready to slow up and recover when I heard Phil Liggett say - "He's on the rivet" and I went for it, got a small gap as we headed into the final lap and then rode away for the win.... it hurt! It was not fun, but like Andrew said, rewarding! Even with the win, I am afraid next week will be tough to mentally prepare to suffer that much again.

The first race of the Winter Short Track MTB series was today and with the snow melted and frozen ground defrosted, it was a muddy one! I race Clydesdale and we started with the Sport race, so it is good to see how I compare to them too. I had a good race, stayed on the bike, and finished 2nd Clydesdale and a time good enough for ~7th for 40 plus Sport racers. Lots of fun till I cleaned and lubed the bike.

Early in the race.
