Feb. 27, 2010 (part 2)

Tonight we visited Aurora Village and were not disappointed in the show. On the ride back to the hotel at 1am we stopped as the show picked up again (photo is another bus that didn't stop) and even got to meet a real ice road convoy and their "friendly" guide.

We left Blachford Lake on the same 1967 De Havilland Beaver we came on, it is still cold and a view of the ice highways over the lakes on the way to Yellowknife.

Feb. 26, 2011 (part 3)

The day and night. A hike through virgin forest, a snow mobile ride through the woods and full blast across lakes and ponds and another fantastic evening show.

Feb. 26, 2011 (part 2)

More from the 2:30am show.

Feb. 26, 2011 (part 1)

At 2:30am the real show started. Lasted about 35 minutes and featured dancing ribbons and swirling shapes that covered the sky.

Feb. 25, 2011 (Part 2)

I was wrong, the clouds broke enough for an hour and a half viewing. (re-toned)

Day 1. Bush plane flight and landing on Blachford Lake. Then a snow storm has covered the area... no Northern Lights tonight. At least dinner is lamb and pear upside down cake.

Rochester to Toronto, Toronto to Calgary, Calgary to Edmonton, and Edmonton to Yellowknife (I hope, I am just waiting out my 4 hour layover)

Feb. 23, 2011

Packed for tomorrow's trip. Lower right to upper left. Pray for a clear sky and solar activity for the Northern Lights. (ps it's a really bad time to have a cold, fought it for a week, before seeing the doctor today, flying should be fun!)

The Blue Bomber leaves home. We owned her for over 10 years, she brought us on many family trips and several with just me and a daughter (both Steph and Sam). Some quick favorites:
- Deb and me driving through the woods in PA, in a rainstorn, neither of us could see the trail, climbing the hills and getting out well after dark.
- Steph and me going to the Coal Miner Cruiser Classic, her first real off-roading.
- Drive-in nights. It is real cold driving home topless (the truck) at 1am
Thanks for the memories!

Feb. 13, 2011

Sam and I went snow shoeing in Black Creek Park, we even found a heart for Valentines Day. Dinner entertainment.

Sold. Had a great visit with the new owner and he left a deposit. Sad to see it go, but I don't have the time to play right now.

Feb. 5, 2011

That will leave a mark. I was so happy to be home, Sam and I went sledding, third run, a kid walks into our path and I stick my hand out to keep from hitting him. Or how to meet the staff of the new urgent care facility....

Last day in San Antonio. Woke up to all the interstates closed due to ice. So I told the chance to walk down the middle of I-35 ; ) On the way to the airport, a quick stop at the Alamo, a little more ice on cactus and one last Tex-Mex meal.
