Post ride chatting. Only fast guys showed up for my "hill" ride, then we really did hills... no sprint points last night and I lost my King of the Mountains jersey ; )

Funny stories.
1. I am shooting my POD when a fisherman walks up and says, "I'm no photographer but this is an ugly place for pictures."

2. I got bored and pulled the cap off my truck, since then 3 people have stopped me to say "nice truck." I guess it looks like a grandfather's truck with the cap ; )

One of the cool thing about motorcyclists is they go for a ride just for the ride, so that is what I did tonight. (but in the Prelude with the windows down)

Bigger balls than me... Tim R. sails off a jump after his first attempt sent him into the trees. I refused to try it... I know how that ends ; )

ps thanks Tim O for loaning me your camera for my POD!

Hiking in Maryland looking for the Chimney Rock, without a map, we never found it. Vacation is over.

Drove 2,225 miles
Camped for 15 nights and slept in 9 different places, in 5 states.
Pulled two ticks for me and was almost eaten alive by mosquitoes.
Canoed, hiked, biked, fished and eat well almost every day.
A great vacation!

I plan to go back and add pictures to a lot of days, but I am tired tonight!

A down day. We stopped in Williamsburg so Sam could swim in a pool, we could dry out the last of camp stuff, finish laundry from the first week on the road and river and so we could ride some single track on the bike.

Day 2 of a 26 mile "float" down the Rappahannock River. Even when you think you have it made...
Thanks to Mark and Michelle (stuck in the picture) and James and Elizabeth for planning the trip, the WONDERFUL hospitality before and after the trip and loaning us a canoe... again sorry about the scratches and dents!

Day 1 of a 26 mile "float" down the Rappahannock River in VA, the water was a little low in spots, and required a lot more paddling than floating most of the rest of the day...

A little before 6am and a bear is in the kitchen... no harm, no foul, but these bears are not afraid of us, we could hear them each night after this morning!

July 7, 2009

Skyline Chili over Monongahela National Forest.
Turns out bears like Skyline Chili too... after eating on this overlook, we take a short trail back to the camp site to find a bear going through the leftovers.... after we cleaned up, we found the Skyline Chili can, licked clean ; )
I knew there were bears, but had not seen one in the previous two visits, that would change!
