My day.
A webinar on the current state of journalism, off work and rain so no ride, and an owl visits the campsite (good, let it eat the mice)

Cat nap and playing on a joggling board. A joggling or jostling board is a long, pliable board that is supported on each end by wooden stands. The board is springy and a person sitting on it can easily bounce up and down. It originated in the Lowcountry of South Carolina around Charleston in the early 19th century.

According to one popular, but totally unsupported, story about joggling boards, the device was used by courting couples. The male and female would sit at opposite ends of the board and bounce up and down. Because the board slopes in the middle, the couple would bounce toward each other and eventually meet in the middle. Sore bums, but new chums.

April 4, 2011

What a frustrating day! I spend way too long unsuccessfully learning a file format from a video camera (damn .mts files) that I have to give a lecture on to design school students, then it was confirmed my dad has stage 4 lung cancer, so to clear my head I went the Uwharrie National Forest to mtn bike... bad signage or no markings and un-ridable trails made the evening like the rest of the day....
