Jay is less happy. There is more up my back and shoulder.
Short version - 21st out of 107 finishers, 7th in age group.
Longer version - I started up the long climb taht starts the race at my own pace
and "enjoyed" the exactly 30 minutes of up.
After that I started picking folks off, the day before I pre-rode the
course and had a pinch flat, so I added pressure and was
bouncing around from rock to root. The rain had turned the clay
surface into snot, so along I went, slipping and sliding and loving disk brakes. I
had fun... till the
end.
Coming off the mountain, the course veered onto the downhill
course and the grass was wet and slick. I had not pre-ridden this
part, so each turn was new and unexpected. I passed one rider that I
had been chasing forever and wanted to put some time on him...
I ended up locking up my brakes, my rear flipped ends with the front
until I launched higher than I have ever flown, landed on my back. I
have a good bit of road rash, an ankle that is sore and something in
my chest that hurts. Monday morning will be interesting.

Post race rehydrating.
I had a great race, won my division in a tight battle. The last 10 minutes was basically a sprint, with 5 minutes to go I was tingly and my brain was screaming to slow down (say it in your Phil Liggett voice (name is a link) at least that is what I heard ; )

A night of chains....
Racing partner JoAnn broke hers on our warm up lap. Mine broke with leading the race on the first lap. After a long search, I realized the missing part was still on the chain, I fixed it and finished. At least I didn't DNF. That far behind, I decided to work on carrying speed through sections I lose it normally... bad idea after I crashed Superman style on a gravel road.

A quick weekend camping trip to Allegany State Park so I could pre-ride a race course for a mountain bike race. What a cool park, lots to do, Sam and I climbing the fire tower on top South Mountain, playing on Thunder Rocks (left by glaciers) and playing on the Stone Tower.
ps What face can you see in the rock on teh right in the middle series?
